Week 2

The world needs good news and local businesses need our support. MT+Co. CEO and Co-Founder Rob Miller has taken time over the last few weeks to share some positivity on social media by highlighting businesses that are doing great things and that deserve recognition.

DAY 8

PARKSIDE HOTEL AND SPA.

Today, meet the folks at Parkside Hotel and Spa, who are making their facilities available to essential service workers at a much reduced community rate so they can have a comfortable place to live if they do not want to put their family at home at risk. Thank you to the folks at Parkside for taking care of the people who take care of us.

DAY 9

HARMAC.

Today, meet Harmac, an employee-owned (I like them already) pulp mill whose employee-owners are putting themselves on the line to make pulp for surgical masks and gowns. Thank you Harmac!

DAY 10

HAISLA NATION.

Today is a cheat because it’s technically not a business, but its vision and leadership have made an indelible impact on the BC business community. Meet our friends at Haisla Nation, led by elected Chief Crystal Smith. Haisla has donated $300k to the local hospital to support the COVID response for the whole Kitimat community. Thank you Haisla!

DAY 11

MEN IN KILTS.

Today takes us to mid-Vancouver Island, where exterior cleaning business Men In Kilts is making free deliveries of the things we all need to seniors and other at-risk neighbours. Great story of a local small business lending a hand in a way that makes a big impact. Thank you Men in Kilts! And thank you Shauna for posting this in the first place.

DAY 14

LNG STUDIOS.

Today meet LNG Studios and my friend Leon Ng. In ordinary times, LNG Studios is a team of collaborative 3D artists, producers, designers, + managers who deliver award-winning simulations. Their work is stunning (as are their offices, which I’ve had the pleasure of visiting). The team at LNG has repurposed its 3-D printing capability to produce face shields for frontline workers (apparently they’ve already done 120 in the first 48 hours). They’ve started a GoFundMe campaign to help procure the materials to produce more. Thanks Leon and and LNG Team. And thanks Saul Brown for sharing this great story.
